MHS Programs and Services

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of the Marin community, the Marin Humane Society is able to offer a wide variety of programs and services to meet local needs. Animal Services Officers are on the job 24 hours a day, every day of the year, providing assistance with stray animals, animal emergencies, citizen complaints, and much more. The Behavior & Training Department focuses on keeping people and pets together by offering a multitude of dog training classes, behavior consultations and educational workshops. Humane Education staff make presentations to classrooms throughout the county, teaching students to appreciate and care for the animals with whom they share their lives.

Adoption Outposts take adoption animals to different parts of the county to find new homes. Animal Chronicles is distributed to 55,000 animal-friendly residents and is chockfull of useful information for living companionably with our pets. Signing up for the MHS Guardians for Life program will ensure that, should something happen to you, your animal companions will be well cared for; and if you are a victim of domestic violence and in urgent need of removing your animal from a dangerous situation, Companions in Crisis can help.

SHARE (Special Human-Animal Relationships) provides pet care assistance to low-income seniors, persons living with HIV/AIDS and those receiving hospice services. And the MHS Volunteer program offers an assortment of exciting opportunities to those wanting to make a hands-on difference for the animals.

These are just some of the programs and services offered by The Marin Humane Society. Please refer to the list at left for a more complete list and additional information.
