Jeremiah
10-month-old
Neutered Male, 58lbs
Great Dane Mix
Wham! Bam! This guy thinks he's a superdog! Jeremiah is full of adolescent energy. Like most teenagers, he's exploring his boundaries, and needs a lot of structure and guidance to meet his potential. He plays hard with people, using his body to push them out of the way. He also plays hard with other dogs, so his playmates need to be chosen with care.
Jeremiah knows some obedience exercises (like "sit" and "down"), and he has a desire to please, but he's fighting his energy and his instincts, so classes will be a must.
f you like big dogs with plus-size personalities, Jeremiah may be just the dog for you!

Abby
2-year-old
Spayed Female, 11lbs
Chihuahua Mix
Abby is a cute, sweet, loving Chihuahua who wants to feel safe and be friendly, but is not used to people. Abby might have spent a good deal of time outside, since she is initially shy of people and startles easily. Abby would benefit from a calm, quieter, less hectic environment. Be patient with Abby, give her the structure she needs plus plenty of daily exercise and you will be justly rewarded with a loving lifelong companion.

Moses
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 81lbs
German Shepherd Mix
This handsome black and tan dog is Moses! At two years he's a wonderful age - he's outgrown high-energy puppyhood, and he's ready to relax and enjoy life with you. Moses is a bit sensitive in new surroundings, so give him time to adjust. He loves to play with squeaky toys and balls; these will be wonderful tools for keeping him exercised while he develops a nice relationship with you. Moses is built to cover a lot of ground with those long legs; take him hiking or jogging to keep both of you fit and trim.
This tall, dark and handsome dog could be the guy you are seeking. We hope you can offer him the affection, training and stable, forever-home that he needs.

Queen
2-year-old
Spayed Female, 68lbs
German Shepherd
Meet Queen, and yes she is. She is a regal beauty and a lovely example of the German Shepherd dog. She is long, lean, playful, friendly and, also true to the breed, a bit of a handful.
German Shepherds require a fair amount of exercise and Queen is no exception. However, just to make your job easier, she already plays a nice game of fetch. She will need a nice long walk (45 minutes) in addition to a rousing game of fetch daily. Queen is a find for the right owner.

Abigail
6-year-old
Spayed Female, 45lbs
Basset/Beagle Mix
Take a stroll down Abbey Road! Abigail is a Basset Beagle mix who is 6 years old going on 2. She has lots of bubbly energy while playing, but is also able to settle back down easily when play time is over. She is very fun loving and affectionate, very playful, but she is also very territorial and an accomplished escape artist. Abbey will require an experienced handler to make sure she 1) can never escape from her home and 2) works on her leash frustration and territorial aggression. She is not and should never be a yard dog and because of her breeds' barking instincts, she is not a good candidate for apartment living.
But, if you love Beagles or you love Bassets, you surely get the best of both breeds in little Miss Abigail. Or if you just love crooked legged, cute, belly rub loving, playful love muffins, well, maybe she is the dog for you. A behavioral consult is required for any potential adopters. No children please, but other dogs ok.

Precious
5-year-old
Spayed Female, 16lbs
Toy Poodle
This little girl is really Precious, but she needs some help from a caring family. She came to MHS as a stray. It’s a good thing because we can now find her a perfect home!
Toy Poodles are great little dogs. They typically are very energetic, athletic and smart as can be. At the moment Precious is not very active, but with time and weight loss that part of her might come out. Exercise her according to her ability as she thins down, and help her gain some muscle.
Precious is very sweet and loves her people. She enjoys sitting in your lap very quietly. Even when afraid she wanted to sit in the handler's lap; that is her 'safe' place. As she became more confident, Precious followed people around the room besides investigating the toys and smells. Take this girl home and find out how precious she really is!

Gibbs
8-month-old
Neutered Male, 29lbs
Smooth Collie Mix
Gibbs is a young adolescent is quite exuberant! We believe he is a Smooth Collie/Australian Shepherd mix and he needs strong management, leadership, and training on your part to turn him into your dream boy. We recommend active owners with prior breed experience and a household with teenagers (12 +) or adults only who can handle his effervescent personality and energy level.
His first request is to be enrolled in a Family Dog 1 class; then consider additional activities like an Agility class. This is a smart breed that needs a job and wants to please you. Gibbs is such a handsome young man! He needs a new lease on life, a structured home and a family willing to devote the necessary time and energy to fulfill his dreams. He has the potential to be a terrific dog. Are you up to the challenge of showing him how to be all that he can be?
