Customer Care Technician

Broad Function: The Customer Care Technician is responsible for providing a high standard of customer service to members of the community, dispatching & providing support to the field services officers, while presenting a positive and professional image.

  • Hours:  Full-Time or Part-Time
  • Starting Salary: $16 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.      Work cooperatively, harmoniously & respectfully with other team members

2.      Interactions with the public & other staff should be conducted in a professional manner; incorporating skills such as patience, respect, compassion & empathy

3.      To provide viable resources & effective problem solving, with the goal of facilitating positive outcomes

4.      Answering a high volume of phone calls, including emergency calls, while remaining calm, courteous, professional and efficient.

5.      Complete paperwork to facilitate reports pertaining to Rabies Control, Lost and Found & Animal Complaints. 

6.      Receive and provide a cursory evaluation, based on health & temperament, to determine status for incoming animals of all species.

7.      Complete data entry to facilitate & track animals within the shelter software program

8.      Identify health/medical issues on intake animals and complete requests for veterinary examinations on applicable animals

9.      Create a detailed service report from customers & dispatch service calls to Field Services officers

10.  Facilitate intake paperwork & support customers in preparation for euthanasia services

11.  Understand, support, and articulate organization's policies and philosophies to the public in a positive and effective manner

12.  Assist the licensing dept with issuing dog licenses.

13.  Facilitate the process to provide microchips for animals.

14.  Receive monies, provide receipts and balance monies & receipts daily.

15.  Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a positive public image and to enhance the operation of the organization and improve the quality of life for the animals

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or G.E.D.

  2. Accumulated knowledge of and compassion for animals

  3. Good data entry and clerical skills

  4. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds

  5. Good oral and written communications skills, maturity and good judgment

  6. Possession of valid California drivers license and good driving record

  7. Must be available to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays

  8. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

  9. Rabies Immunization required (provided by MHS)

  10. Capable of working both independently and as a member of a team
